not bad at all, when I used to model cars I always waited with applying materials. Or does it not affect your render speed that much?

reply: render time ...
scene setup:- without lights (only automatic light)
- no shadows
- antialiasing - best (sinc)
- materials - little fresnel in some chanels
- in little window is render time
