Awards Showcase
Gfxcube Cog Award
Total Awards: 1
Default Finished Competition: Mini Cooper S!

about:
Welcome Gfx users! This is a 3D competition. And you can enter with any
3D software you want! This competition will be of 2 parts.

First part:
This competition is mainly about modeling. Of course the eye candy of a final render
will influence how your model looks.
What we want you to model is: Mini Cooper S
Blueprint: Mini Cooper S 2007-2008
Google images:
- http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-conte...ooperS2007.jpg
- http://z.about.com/d/cars/1/0/N/t/ag_07mini_rear.jpg

You do not need to model the inner part of the car just the:
- body
- antenna
- license plate
- tires/rims
- everything on the outside of the car (what you can see, no seats...)

You will be judged on the quality of your work.

Second part:
This part shows why this is a competition about modeling.
You've done the high poly model of the mini and it looked good.

But now I want you to create a mini that looks even better, with the
least amount of polygons!
Think of it as creating a model for a game. You can't have 500k models rendered
at 60fps when there are 12 of those scooting around the tracks.

So The maximum limit of polygons is 15 000. Anything less will only help you.
For this part I need 4 final renders:
2 - like the first part, make it as good looking as possible. (textured if u want)
2 - only the mesh with the wireframe (could just be a screengrab from your application, not textured)
I also need the polygon count (on those renders). No polygon count means not finished.

These renders are also 640*480 and should include name and poly count.

Agian just exterior is good.

Rules:
- 3D software package has no restriction, you can use 1 or 12 it doesn't make a difference.
- Part 1 of this competition ends on: 10th May 2008
- Part 2 of this competition ends on: 31st May 2008
- 2D software for texturing only!
- Only selfmade models can be used. (Don't download a nice looking rim, model it yourself...)
- Either create a new thread in the 3D work ik progress area or show a WIP here so we know you are working in it.
- Final render are 640*480, including your username, and the polygoncount, somewhere on it.
- 2 renders, one for each side and render so we get a good look at the body of the car (smoothness and such).
- Have fun.

Prize(s):
The winner will be placed on the frontpage with a link to his or her website and an article entirely
about the winner.

Where to enter:
To enter the competition Click Here and make your thread so you can post your work in progress and final result.

Good luck!

Hey members,

Mathias has created a brilliant competition above! Its a chance of a lifetime. Even if your new at modeling join in. The car chosen is a very simple shape to model i have modeled similar cars such as Audi's and there alot of fun!

You get a front page mention with an Article/Interview, You don't have to be a professional even if your a student of do graphics as a hobby we want to hear about you and see your work. (We get hundreds of guests and frequent member logins daily to view your success.)

Not only will this be alot of fun and a friendly none pressured competition it also will most likely be educational for yourself.

So don't finish reading this and say, "I rather not embarrass myself". I am sure you probably can model better than me. And if not still join in and let me help assist in the processes!

So if you find some time in your life for a bit of a challenge fill it in with this competition. Thank you and i hope to see your entry's.

Again thanks for your support.
Carney

Well we have quite a bit of promotion for this competition now so all we need is a few people to get modeling and you can get an interview. Simple! What are you waiting for?

Haha enjoy everyone!
