Use poly-modelling :D

It's way to better, you can easily have the control of the flowing edges :D
Well, at least it works for me :D

Good luck bro'

poly modelling is to star a design (whatever it is) from a plane primitive, then convert it to editable polygon (in case of 3ds max) and just extrude the edges (shift + click in max).

By that way you can easily control the flow of a mesh. And with a certain kind of topology your model will look awesome.

This is a little contribution that i can make for you, but i you need more help, don't hesitate on asking me man, i will surely answer you. Even when i'm not an organic modeller, i can help you :D

ok Ive have done his head and it didnt tourn out well but kinda looks ok. I did it using a cylinder.

Now I have another problem. I need to creat a uv texturew and paint onto the texture in photoshop. I have created the texture for his head but I am stuck on his body. When I select his body and map it with cylindrical mapping his arms in the uv texture are coing out, umm well twoards me. So how am I suposed to paint the arms and hands when they are coming out towards me. I tired moving the uvs but there are too many and it all started to get mesed up. The arms, body, legs and feet are all one object so I could seperate his arms from his body. How would I do that? I tried using the separatre tool but It wont separate his arms from his body. Even if I get the arms seperate from the body how would I get them to turn out in the UV texture editor so I can paint on them.

Cheers,
Frenzy

you should take a good look on gnomon texturing DVD and cg academy unwrap uvw DVD to learn howto work with UVWs because its not very straight forward. Also try to find some online tutorials related to unwrap uvw

ok dont worry Ive done the texturing. I just had to select all the faces on his body execpt his arms and create a texture and then create mamaterial for his arms and apply it his arms.

Now I need to scale him to the correct size. I have parented and grouped all the parts and now I need to scale. The units that maya uses is centimeters but I am not sure how to make him to the correct scale

does anybody know

i thought you wore using Max... anyway, you should learn how to work with UVWs... Aplying a cilindrical mapping in a barrel may work, but with a complex shape that doesn't work. You need to set the uvs
